The design is inspired by 'Yatsuhashi Yatsuhashi Kakitsubata-zu Byobu' (Irises screen), the celebrated masterpiece by Ogata Korin, the foremost artist of the Rimpa school. Against a brilliant gold leaf background, vivid iris flowers are rendered in rich blue and green, capturing the classical elegance of Japanese decorative art. The bold yet refined composition is characteristic of Rimpa aesthetics, making this box both a functional item and a work of art.
