The red Daruma is believed to ward off evil and carries the wishes of "safety in the home" and "good fortune." Lacquerware excavated from Japan's Jomon period is often vermilion as well, and one theory holds that the red of lacquer was already used to ward off evil even back then. We present this auspicious Daruma in a traditional Japanese color and in lacquer, a charming, palm-sized lucky piece.
