  • This is a round lacquered plate depicting dolphins, a symbol of healing and good fortune.

This round plate comes from the "Sea Plate" series, in which lacquer craftsmen hand-paint the creatures of the sea. Three dolphins swim happily together across an emerald-green sea, rendered in colorful urushi-e (lacquer painting). Long loved in the West and linked to gods such as Poseidon, the sea god, and Apollo, the dolphin is an auspicious motif of healing and good luck.
The clear emerald "flowing water" pattern is an auspicious design of purification, as ever-flowing water is always pure. May it bring an open, free spirit to your table.
