Wakamatsu ( 若松 Pine Tree )

A traditional sign of good luck in Japan, a pine tree represents eternal life from the way it endures cold winter and beautifully flourish in the spring. It has a strong vitality to survive winter even when its needles are puffed with snow.

Hand-painted by using "iro urushi" (colour lacquer). Our craftsmen mix raw lacquer with dyes just before starting painting, so that they can adjust the mixing combinations depending on the day's temperature and humidity.
