Drawn by using "maki-e" techniques, each flower represents different seasons: "ume" (plums) in the spring, "botan" (peonies) in the summer, "kiku" (chrysanthemums) in the autumn, and "tessen" (clematis) in the winter. The gold lid is coated with "hon-kinpaku," or pure gold leaf, to create a luxurious mood.
